Sarah Stevens, Adriana Matheys, Heather Akins
Sarah Stevens is a certified Speech-Language Pathologist who earned her degree in Early Childhood Education from Presbyterian College and her Master’s in Speech Pathology from the University of South Carolina. She has additional training in DIR Floortime and Hanen caregiver strategies.
Her areas of interest include early language development, AAC, articulation and phonological disorders, and working with the hearing impaired population. Sarah especially enjoys working with toddlers and preschoolers with emerging communication.
Sarah takes an individualized, child-led, and family-centered approach to therapy, focusing on collaboration to best support each child’s success.
Outside of work, Sarah enjoys spending time with her husband and daughter, Hazel, as well as traveling and visiting the mountains.
Adriana Matheys is a certified Speech-Language Pathologist who earned her degree in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, and her Master’s in Speech-Language Pathology from the University of Hawaii at Manoa. She has additional training in DIR Floortime, Childhood Apraxia of Speech, and PECS.
Her areas of interest include language delays, childhood apraxia of speech, autism, and speech sound disorders. Adriana especially enjoys working with babies and toddlers as they develop early communication skills and confidence.
Adriana takes a child-led, play-based, and family-centered approach to therapy, focusing on meaningful communication opportunities within a child’s natural environment.
Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, being near the water, cheering on her children at sporting events, and reading.
Heather Akins is the Co-Owner and Administrator of ChatterBox Kids. She earned dual degrees in Economics and Business Management, with a concentration in Finance, from North Carolina State University.
Over the past 15 years, Heather has enjoyed helping grow ChatterBox Kids alongside Adriana, Sarah, and the rest of the team while supporting the needs of children and families through speech and physical therapy services.
Outside of work, Heather enjoys working out, reading and spending time with family and friends. She lives just outside Raleigh with her husband, John, and their three children: Abby, Sally, and Ryan.
Abbey Fauerbach-Deaton is a certified Speech-Language Pathologist who earned her Master of Science in Communication Science Disorders from the Medical University of South Carolina and her undergraduate degree in Psychology from the College of Charleston. She has additional training in PBIS, DIR, ASL, and Auditory Processing Disorders.
Abbey’s areas of interest include early intervention, articulation and phonological impairments, motor speech disorders, autism spectrum disorders, and sensory and emotional regulation. She is especially passionate about working with children ages six and under, recognizing the importance of early experiences in shaping communication and development.
Her therapy approach is child-centered, play-based, and focused on meaningful, one-on-one interaction. Abbey prioritizes building strong connections, following the child’s lead, and using each child’s strengths to support growth.
Outside of work, Abbey enjoys cooking, gardening, and spending time with her husband, daughter, and their two dogs, Mila and Fraggle.
Alison "Ali" Gallo is a certified Speech-Language Pathologist who earned both her Bachelor’s degree in Communication Disorders and her Master of Arts in Speech-Language Pathology from the State University of New York at Geneseo. She also holds a teaching certificate for school-based practice, along with certifications in ESOL/Multilingual Learners and Preschool Special Education.
Ali’s areas of interest include Early Intervention, preschool-aged children, and multilingual learners. She especially enjoys working with toddlers and preschoolers with emerging communicative intent, language disorders, articulation disorders, and multimodal communication needs.
Her therapy approach is family-centered, play-based, and focused on supporting communication within a child’s natural environment and daily routines. Ali believes that early intervention is essential for developing the foundational play and language skills children need to learn and grow.
Outside of work, Ali enjoys spending time outdoors, being near the water, working out, trying new foods, and spending time with her husband, their dog, and their sons as they cheer them on in hockey and lacrosse.
Emily Fetzer is a certified Speech-Language Pathologist who earned her degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders from Florida State University and her Master of Arts from the University of Central Florida.
Her areas of interest include early language development, receptive and expressive language, and speech sound disorders. Emily enjoys working with toddlers with emerging communication, as well as preschool and school-age children with articulation needs.
Emily incorporates literacy-based therapy into her sessions and believes in creating fun, play-based experiences that support natural learning and development.
Outside of work, Emily enjoys golfing with her family, cooking, reading, working out, and traveling.
Emma Sells is a Speech-Language Pathology Clinical Fellow who earned her degree in Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences from Butler University and her Master’s in Speech-Language Pathology from the University of South Carolina.
Her areas of interest include early language development and feeding, and she especially enjoys working with toddlers and infants with emerging communication and feeding needs.
Emma takes a play-based, caregiver-centered approach to therapy, focusing on creating meaningful, positive experiences that support both communication and feeding development.
Outside of work, Emma enjoys spending time with her fiancé and kitten, exploring Charleston, trying new restaurants, reading, and working out.
Ginny Witte is a certified Speech-Language Pathologist who earned both her Bachelor of Science in Speech Language Hearing Sciences and Master of Arts in Speech and Language Pathology from the University of Cincinnati. She is CPR and First Aid certified and holds a certification in Deaf Studies.
Ginny’s clinical interests include augmentative and alternative communication (AAC), early language development, and speech sound disorders. She is especially passionate about supporting multimodal communication and helping non-speaking children find their voices. Ginny enjoys working with the autistic community, toddlers with emerging communication, and preschoolers with articulation needs.
Her therapy approach is play-based and family-centered, with an emphasis on open communication and collaboration across disciplines. Ginny tailors her treatment to meet each child’s unique needs, working closely with families to support meaningful progress.
Outside of work, Ginny enjoys spending time at the beach, baking, traveling to visit family and friends, and being with her dog, Remy.
Lauren Hopkins is a Speech-Language Pathology Clinical Fellow who earned her degree in Communication Disorders from the University of Akron and her graduate degree in Speech-Language Pathology from Carlow University.
Her areas of interest include feeding and early language development, and she especially enjoys working with children ages one to three, as well as infants developing feeding skills.
Lauren takes a child-led, play-based approach to therapy, focusing on helping children communicate their wants and needs in a fun and meaningful way.
Outside of work, Lauren enjoys walking her dog, Finn, and trying new foods with friends and family.
Megan Dearing is a certified Speech-Language Pathologist and Certified Lactation Counselor who earned her degree in Communication Disorders from Marshall University and her Master’s in Communication Disorders from Hampton University. She has additional training in PROMPT and enjoys supporting children and families across a variety of communication and feeding needs.
Her areas of interest include early language development, speech sound disorders, feeding, and breastfeeding/lactation support. Megan enjoys working with children of all ages and abilities.
Megan believes children learn best through meaningful interactions, connection, and play. She creates engaging, goal-oriented sessions that support functional communication skills and carryover into daily life.
Outside of work, Megan enjoys spending time with her husband and children, Harper and Dallas, reading, being near the water, and singing.
Mollie Dingle is a certified Speech-Language Pathologist who earned her degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders from Appalachian State University and her Master of Speech Pathology from the University of Sydney in Australia. She has additional training in PECS, the Lidcombe Program for Preschoolers, and SMILE.
Her areas of interest include early language development, speech sound disorders, AAC, and fluency. Mollie especially enjoys working with toddlers with emerging communication and preschoolers with speech sound disorders.
Mollie takes a child-led, play-based, and family-centered approach to therapy, creating engaging experiences that support each child’s communication goals.
Outside of work, she enjoys cheering on her children at sporting events, reading, and traveling to the mountains and Maine.
Kristin Marcum is a licensed Physical Therapist who earned her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from the Medical University of South Carolina College of Health Professions and her undergraduate degree in Biology from the College of Charleston.
Kristin’s areas of interest include infant and early childhood motor development, with a special focus on children experiencing delays in crawling, walking, and other mobility milestones. She is especially passionate about working with infants and young children, recognizing the importance of early movement experiences in supporting exploration, learning, and development.
Her therapy approach is family-centered and focuses on incorporating therapeutic strategies into everyday routines and activities. Kristin emphasizes practical, meaningful interventions that families can easily carry over at home, helping children build skills through natural opportunities for movement and play.
Outside of work, Kristin enjoys spending time with her husband, daughter, and son. She loves attending their sporting events, exploring the community together, working on puzzles, and reading.
